SUPPLY LIST FABRIC Bring the following, plus one solid fat quarter to practice on. Background: fat quarter of any color you choose. Your quilt could be set in morning, afternoon, or even the evening . . . think moonlight! Flowers, leaves and stems: think summer colors -- pink, yellow, purple, white, red and lots of greens . . . a beautiful garden! Bring an assortment of fat quarter-sized pieces or smaller (scraps at least 8" x 8") for your flower colors. Choose fabrics that are solid, or appear semi-solid so that your satin stitching will be easy to see. For your leaves and stems, choose more than one kind of green so your garden will look more natural. Again, 8" x 8" scraps will be sufficient. Woman: a fat quarter or regular 1/4 yard of whatever color you would like her to be. Hair: A scrap at least 6" x 6" of any color you choose (blonde, brunette, redhead, etc...) • Make sure the flowers and leaves contrast well with the background you've chosen. • Bring some beautiful, inspirational pictures of gardens to help you with color placement and give you ideas. THREAD • The more, the better! That’s my motto in life! • At least 4 spools of solid or ultra twist rayon (40, 35 or 30 wt is okay!) that will blend with the solid or semi-solid fabrics you’ve chosen for the body, hair, flowers and leaves, plus one or two variegated colored threads. • A few spools of 50 or 60 wt. cotton thread in colors that blend or contrast with your solid/semi-solid fabrics. • Optional: A couple of spools of metallic thread (Madeira & Superior are great brands) NEEDLES: #75/90 Schmetz Embroidery Needles – these are two different sizes. You can buy an assortment pack! #80 Schmetz Metallica Needles (optional, you'll need these only if you want to use metallic threads!)
